Dr. Hilary Quinn was born and raised in the Bay Area and came to Santa Barbara in 2000. She attended UCSB where she received her B.S. in Zoology from UCSB in 2002. She met her husband Andy over a shark liver dissection in an ecology course, and they have been inseparable ever since. They lived in Goleta, Los Angeles, and Bozeman prior to moving to Massachusetts for Veterinary School. Dr. Quinn graduated from Tufts School of Veterinary Medicine in 2009 and promptly moved back to California, where she completed a rotating internship at VCA West Los Angeles specialty hospital. She dived into clinical practice and has been loving it ever since! She and her husband Andy opened Wilder Animal Hospital in April of 2022, and greatly enjoy the trials and tribulations of being hospital owners. Dr. Quinn’s professional interests include dermatology, internal medicine, general surgery, and dentistry. At home, she enjoys gardening, camping, skiing, and spending time with her two human kiddos. Her menagerie currently includes a rescue Saluki from Qatar, an Australian Shepherd from Santa Margarita, a kitty who controls the local gopher population, 2 Beta fish, and 6 chickens who think they deserve access to the entire yard at all times.
Liesl Peterson, DVM
Spirit Animal: Koala
Dr. Liesl Peterson grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area. She was first introduced to the Santa Barbara area as a child going to the UC Santa Barbara family summer camps. She was happy to return to complete her undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences at UCSB, and then head to Davis for her doctorate in Veterinary Medicine and graduated in 1997.
She was fortunate enough to practice for over 20 years in the Bay Area where she and her husband could be close to family and raise their children.
Santa Barbara always held a special place in her heart, and when the opportunity to relocate presented itself, Dr. Peterson and her husband took the leap and made a dream come true.
Dr. Peterson has a passion for all aspects of family veterinary care. Her goal is to provide compassionate care, guidance, and support through all of life’s stages. She particularly enjoys dentistry, ultrasound, and dermatology.
When she is not at the hospital, Dr. Peterson enjoys spending time with her family which includes two young men and one goofy French bulldog named Hobbs. Hobbs clearly runs the show and enjoys taking his humans to different breweries, eateries, and beaches around town.

Dr. Samar moved to Santa Barbara in 2020, following a few years of working all over the United Kingdom and Australia. After graduating from University of Queensland in 2015, she completed a rotating internship at Veterinary Specialist Services in Australia and made the move to the United Kingdom with her now husband. Working across many different general practice clinics and emergency hospitals in both London and country towns she took every opportunity to gain as much experience as possible. In between her travels to Europe, she also flew back and forth to Australia to maintain her veterinary license in her hometown of Sydney and work along with her Aussie mates!
Dr. Samar is very passionate about patient care and enjoys internal medicine cases and critical care. She appreciates that no matter where in the world she is, the pets and families she meets form an unbreakable bond and she feels honoured to be a part of their relationship and help ensure that they have many years of love and memories together.
Any spare time she has will be spent running along the beach, reading the latest novels and entertaining her very needy Golden Retriever called Norman! She loves cooking different types of cuisines with her husband and making the most of all the hiking Santa Barbara has to offer.
